Charlie and Gina have extensive experience of playing for functions as well as being free-lance performers as part of quartets, trios and orchestras.

 

They have played in events including:  awards ceremonies, weddings, funerals, the Hampton Court Flower Show and corporate functions (clients such as Daily Telegraph, HSBC and The Law Society).  They have performed at many prestigious venues such as:  Claridges, The Royal Exchange, Blenheim Palace, Royal Opera House, Royal Naval College, Tate Britain and Four Seasons Hotel.  Doppio Duo regularly work in recording studios, most recently creating and recording the strings on Betty Steeles upcoming album.

Gina van Hoorn Alkema
After gaining her Bmus(hons) from Trinity College of Music, Gina continued her studies to Postgraduate level.  She is resident musician for London Shakespeare Workout and Everyday Magic.  Gina is founding member of the Symposia String Quartet and plays regularly with the Connecting Arts Orchestra.  She has recently appeared at The Pride of Britain Awards and recorded the soundtrack for the documentary film 'The Lost World of Mr Hardy'.
Charlie Newman 
Since graduating from Trinity College of Music in 2004, Charlie has played in shows in the West End and the National Theatre, as well as touring with English Touring Opera. She regularly coaches youth ensembles and is in demand for her improvisation skills, being the resident violinist with the storytelling company ‘Everyday Magic’. Charlie has recently qualified as a teacher of the Alexander Technique.
